About Tree Hugger & Son Tree Services Limited
Tree Hugger & Son Tree Services Limited is a family-run tree care business based in Nottingham. It removes and fells dangerous, overgrown or unwanted trees, prunes and crowns trees, trims and reduces hedges, tops conifers, grinds out stumps, and provides 24-hour emergency tree work for storm damage. The business also supplies seasoned split logs and woodchip delivered locally, and carries out commercial tree work for businesses, developers, councils and managing agents. Professional tree surveys and reports are prepared for planning, mortgages and insurance, and the business handles Tree Preservation Order and conservation area applications with councils.
Tree Hugger & Son covers Nottingham, Long Eaton, Derby, Beeston, Ilkeston and the villages between them. The business was founded by Drew Patterson over 20 years ago after he achieved a Distinction in the Level 3 National Award in Arboriculture. Ross Patterson, now Director, and Craig Porter joined as the team grew. In November 2024, Drew retired and passed the business to Ross and his wife Ellie Patterson, who continue to run it with the same family values and personal service. The team has trained several apprentices over the years, including Josh Weedon, Lewis Truman and Lawrence Pilkington, who have progressed into independent roles in arboriculture.
Tree Hugger & Son is fully insured and holds NPTC and City and Guilds qualifications. Arborists are qualified and the business is accredited. Free quotes are provided from photos alone, usually within one working day. All clippings and waste are cleared away.
