About Dixon Gardening Services Limited
Dixon Gardening Services Limited is a family-run garden maintenance business based in Canterbury. The owners work hands-on to provide organic and wildlife-friendly garden care. Services include regular lawn mowing and edging, weeding and mulching beds, pruning shrubs and roses, hedge trimming, and border care. One-off jobs cover border care, lawn care, pruning and training, and hedge cutting. The business also carries out planting of flower beds, borders, edible plants, native plants, pollinator-friendly flowers, and spring and autumn bulbs.
The business covers Canterbury and the surrounding areas. Regular maintenance programs are designed throughout the year to foster natural balance. On-site composting transforms garden waste into mulch. The business manages pests by encouraging natural predators and minimises soil disturbance to promote healthy soil structure and reduce weeds. Dead hedges are built, stems and seed heads are left through winter, and leaf piles are created at border backs to provide hibernation spots and food for local wildlife. Border care uses mulching to suppress weeds and conserve moisture. Lawn care includes aeration to relieve soil compaction and scarification to remove thatch. Hand-weeding is used for smaller areas, and drought-tolerant grass varieties are overseeded. Hedge pruning maintains health, density and shape, with checks for nesting birds before cutting and adherence to wildlife protection guidelines. Pruning and training of fruit trees, roses, ornamental shrubs and climbers removes dead or diseased wood and guides plants for specific forms. Planting focuses on native plants and pollinator-friendly flowers that provide food and shelter for bees, butterflies, songbirds and hedgehogs.
