Sheldon was a Warwickshire parish of two thousand six hundred acres with five hundred and twenty six people living in it in nineteen twenty one, and an order of nineteen thirty one brought the greater part of it into Birmingham. Three hundred acres are country park now, and what the council lists on that ground is grassland, wetland, old hedgerows and mature woodland. Old Rectory Farm in the middle of it is seventeenth century and was a dairy farm before it was restored. Those hedge lines were marking boundaries a long time before the streets round them were laid out.
