Off The Rock

About Off The Rock

Off The Rock is a landscape design and construction business in Edinburgh run by David Collings. The business designs and builds gardens for homeowners, creating outdoor spaces that combine layout, planting and materials. Services include garden design, construction, paving, planting, lighting, decking, raised planters, rendered planters, artificial grass, stone and granite pavers, cedar hot tubs, fire pits, garden studios and furniture made to measure. Recent projects feature contemporary city gardens, courtyard gardens, family gardens and rural landscapes across the Lothians, with work ranging from small south-facing spaces to expansive multi-level gardens with separate living accommodation.

Off The Rock covers Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian and North Berwick. The design process begins with a free initial consultation to discuss the client's vision. David and the team hand-draw an outline of the outdoor space and present a 3D master plan showing what the finished garden will look like. Once the design is finalised, the team undertakes construction using their own crew. Materials used include granite pavers, corten steel planters, reclaimed oak timbers, porcelain tiles, Millboard decking, teak fencing and larch. The business has over 25 years of experience in garden design and construction and maintains full control of both design and build to ensure gardens feel cohesive and built to stand the test of time.
