Welch Landscape Design

About Welch Landscape Design

Welch Landscape Design is run by Stephen Welch, a chartered landscape architect with a Masters in Landscape Design from Sheffield University and more than 20 years experience. The business designs gardens and landscapes for private clients, estates, farms, hospices, churches and public spaces. Services include landscape design, Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments for planning applications, and site work. Stephen previously worked for private practices, government bodies and the Daily Telegraph's garden design service.

Projects range from small back gardens to large estates. Recent work includes a hospice garden with running water and natural materials, a stud farm on historic parkland with semi-mature tree planting, a garden with cascades and stone terraces, a sunken courtyard with art deco features and retractable shade canopy, a public peace garden with woodland and treehouse, and a cliff-top garden designed to shelter from wind while preserving views. Stephen designed a garden for Chelsea Flower Show 2016 and received a Landscape Design award at the Guernsey Design Awards 2018.

Design begins with a site visit to identify opportunities, constraints and possibilities. Stephen works closely with architects, engineers and town planners to integrate designs with other elements. The business covers projects across the country. Each landscape is approached individually, with Stephen taking a practical, hands-on approach to both design and site work.
