About TimberTec

TimberTec is a family-run tree surgery business based in Chelmsford. It has traded since 1990 and carries out hedge cutting and trimming, tree felling, crown reduction, crown lifting, pollarding, coppicing, and stump grinding for domestic customers and commercial clients across Essex. The business also operates a mobile saw milling service that converts felled tree trunks into sawn timber planks for construction or sale, and it produces and delivers timber and firewood logs from its yard.

The business covers a 15-mile radius around Chelmsford, including Billericay, Braintree, Brentwood, Danbury, Maldon, South Woodham Ferrers and Witham. Hedge cutting removes dead branches and promotes healthy growth, while hedge trimming shapes the outer branches and levels the top. Tree surgery services include removing dead branches, thinning the upper canopy to let more light through, and felling trees that are on the verge of collapse through age, damage or disease. Crown lifting is used in managed woodland and public parks, and coppicing allows farmed trees to produce new shoots when cut down to the stump. Mobile saw milling brings the equipment to the customer's property, converting roundwood into timber planks that can increase the wood's value by up to three times.

The team of tree surgeons has decades of experience between them. Work begins with cordoning off areas where trees or large branches are being felled to protect the surroundings from accidental damage. TimberTec is fully insured and has been established for more than thirty years.
