About The urban gardener
The Urban Gardener is a family-run landscaping company based in Manchester. Led by Damian Steadman and Matthew Steadman, it has been creating gardens across South Manchester, Stockport and Cheshire for over 25 years. The business designs and builds complete garden transformations, turning outdoor spaces into functional extensions of the home.
Services include natural stone paving in sandstone, limestone and granite, porcelain paving for contemporary gardens, and patterned paving laid in herringbone or basketweave patterns. The business also designs and builds hardwood and composite decking, timber and steel features such as raised beds and pergolas, driveways and groundwork with block paving and retaining walls, and fencing and gates. Outdoor structures such as pergolas, garden kitchens, fire pits and seating areas are built to order. Garden maintenance services cover seasonal pruning, patio restoration, timber preservation and jet washing.
Projects begin with a consultation to discuss the garden and the customer's vision. The Urban Gardener then designs and manages construction from groundwork through to planting and finishing touches. All paving installations meet building regulations with correct sub-base preparation and drainage. The business sources premium materials and uses skilled trades throughout.
The team works for homeowners across South Manchester, Stockport, Cheshire, Chorlton, Didsbury and Wilmslow. Smaller jobs such as winter and spring tidy-ups, gate and fence repairs and jet washing are undertaken alongside full garden projects.
