There is a tree that grows wild in Bristol and nowhere else on earth. The Bristol whitebeam was named in nineteen thirty four, it is found only in the Avon Gorge and the woods on the far bank of it, and as of twenty sixteen there were about three hundred of them. It is listed as endangered. Wilmott's whitebeam, named after the botanist who described the Bristol one, grows in the gorge and nowhere else either.
