About Steel and Maw Tree Experts
Steel and Maw Tree Experts is a tree surgery business in York run by William Steel and Terry Maw. The business carries out tree removal, dismantling, pruning and aftercare for domestic customers, and offers hedge trimming, shaping and treatment for pests and diseases. Garden fencing installation, garden clearance services including stump grinding, tree, weed and shrub removal are also listed. For commercial work, the business undertakes large-scale tree care, restoration, removal and replanting, woodland and forestry management to promote tree health and diversity, arboricultural surveys and tree management consultancy services, and site clearance for new development sites.
Steel and Maw Tree Experts covers North, West and East Yorkshire and manages trees on an ongoing basis for regular clients. William Steel holds a BSc degree in Arboriculture and Forestry from the University of Cumbria, completed in 2012, and has worked as a forestry consultant and with various Yorkshire-based arborist teams. Terry Maw holds a National Diploma in Arboriculture from Askham Bryan College and worked as a climber in Ireland and at tree specialist roles before joining the business. The business advises on replacement trees suited to soil type and environment, and timber from tree works is reused for community projects such as carving seats for forest schools and donating wood chip to allotments. Stumps can be carved as ornamental features or fully ground out. Health and safety and wildlife protection are stated as priorities.
