About RH Tree Contractors
RH Tree Contractors is a tree surgery and fencing business based in Inverness, operating across the Highlands. The company carries out tree pruning, crown lifting, thinning, deadwooding and crown reduction, as well as tree felling and removal. It removes dangerous or overhanging limbs, improves light levels, and prunes fruit trees to increase crop size and quantity. De-vegetation and ground clearance services include rhododendron and gorse removal, tree and scrub clearance, and hedge trimming. Fencing work covers post and rail fencing, vertical slatted fencing, stock fencing, deer fencing and garden fencing in softwood timber.
The business works for domestic, commercial, forestry and utility clients across Inverness, Nairn, Aviemore, Skye and surrounding areas. Robin Howie owns the company. All team members hold NPTC City and Guilds certificates. Work follows the British standard for tree work, BS3998:2010, and avoids lopping and topping. The ABC method of cutting is used for branch removal, and ropes lower larger limbs safely. Diseased, damaged and dead wood is pruned to the branch collar. A site visit assesses whether trees are in a Conservation Area or have a Tree Preservation Order before work begins.
RH Tree Contractors holds public liability, employee liability and professional indemnity insurance, and carries a Waste Carriers license. Fencing is built from certified timber. Recent projects include crown lifting and hedge trimming at Muthu Newton Hotel in Nairn, where 40 roadside trees and 180 metres of overgrown hedge were managed using a mobile elevated work platform.
