About Mr and Mrs Hogbin Colchester Gardeners
Mr and Mrs Hogbin Colchester Gardeners is a family-run gardening business based in Colchester. Agnė and Neil Hogbin plan, purchase, plant and prune beds and borders in private gardens. The business designs planting plans, selects plants from garden centres, prepares soil, plants shrubs, roses, grasses, perennials and bulbs, and carries out long-term maintenance including weeding, feeding, mulching, watering, pruning and deadheading.
Agnė graduated from a Master's course in Environmental Science and completed horticulture internships at Morris Arboretum in Pennsylvania and Harold L. Lyon Arboretum in Hawaii. She worked at FitzGerald Nurseries in Ireland and for Floramedia identifying plants. Neil studied at the University of the Arts London and trained in garden design and rose maintenance at the Beth Chatto Education Trust. Together with their team of gardeners, they work on small to medium-size gardens in central Colchester.
The business covers the central Colchester area. Jobs begin with a free consultation. Planting plans use carefully selected colours, from native plants to exotic varieties, with attention to shade and sun-loving species and climate-resilient plants. Soil improvement, mulching and fertilising are part of the preparation. The business holds public liability insurance and is registered as a lower-tier waste carrier, taking green garden waste to licensed waste sites for a small fee.
