About Lightfoot Tree Services Ltd
Lightfoot Tree Services Ltd is a tree surgery business in Basingstoke run by Ben Lightfoot, an arborist with more than twenty years of experience. The services listed are hedge trimming, deadwooding, tree felling, stump grinding, tree pruning, crown raising, crown reduction, cable bracing and woodland management. The business works across Alton, Basingstoke, Winchester, Farnham and surrounding areas.
Hedge trimming ranges from shaping well-maintained hedges to reducing overgrown ones to a more manageable height and width. Deadwooding removes dead, dying or decaying branches to improve tree health and safety. Tree felling removes trees in one piece or sections where space is limited, and stump grinding removes stumps below ground level using specialized equipment, leaving the area ready for replanting or turfing. Tree pruning involves selective branch removal to maintain health, safety and appearance, including thinning the crown, removing crossing branches and cutting back limbs encroaching on buildings or pathways. Crown raising lifts the canopy to create clearance for footpaths, roads and buildings. Crown reduction reduces the height or spread of a tree to prevent interference with buildings or power lines. Cable bracing installs flexible steel cables between major branches to support weak limbs. Woodland management includes selective thinning, clear felling and coppicing to maintain healthy ecosystems and enhance biodiversity.
Ben Lightfoot earned a National Certificate in Arboriculture from Sparsholt College in 2002 and completed the Arboricultural Association's Technician Certificate at Merrist Wood College. He holds the Professional Tree Inspection Course qualification and provides fully insured services.
