Franks Forestry Ltd

About Franks Forestry Ltd

Franks Forestry Ltd is an arboricultural business based in Harpenden. The team comprises qualified arborists specialising in the care of individual trees. Services include crown thinning and reductions, dead wooding, stump removal, tree planting, tree surveys and reports, and a 24 hour emergency call-out service. The business also handles applications for Tree Preservation Orders, Conservation Area notifications and felling licences from the Forestry Authority.

Crown thinning selectively removes branches to increase sunlight and air circulation through the tree. Crown reduction removes leaders and branch terminals to reduce the height or spread of a tree while retaining an attractive shape, carried out when trees cause problems with utility cables or buildings. Dead wooding removes branches that have died from storm damage, shading or previous lopping, preventing disease organisms from spreading decay to healthy parts of the tree. Stump removal clears remaining visible signs of tree stumps from properties.

Franks Forestry covers Harpenden and St Albans. Established in 1992, the business is an approved contractor with the Arboricultural Association, assessed every two years. It complies with British Standards 3998:2010 for tree work and holds accreditation from CHAS, TrustMark and the International Society of Arboriculture. The business is an accredited supplier to Harpenden Town Council and St Albans District Council. Work is carried out for schools, builders and private homeowners. The team is fully insured and equipped for tree work.
