About Designer Metal
Designer Metal is an iron work business based in Elmsett in Suffolk. Started in the nineties by Xavier Cooper, it originally offered bespoke iron work to private clients and has become one of the main providers of country iron work in the UK. Since 2020 the business has concentrated on supply-only for self-installation of estate fencing and metal tree guards, both manufactured in its own workshops.
The business supplies thousands of metres of traditional estate fencing every year for estates, parks and farms across the UK. The fencing uses generous steel sections and a unique installation method to give rigidity and strength. Metal tree guards provide protection for small and established trees on farms, parks and gardens, manufactured in the UK workshop in designs intended to last for decades. Field gates are produced in five opening sizes to match the five-rail estate fencing, with posts, handmade scrolls and a stock-proof latch as standard. Manual and hydraulic post drivers and installation tools are also offered.
Over the last 25 years Designer Metal has installed hundreds of thousands of metres of estate fencing. The business manufactures its own products rather than importing them, and combines traditional methods with a modern approach. Most tree guards are in stock and available to buy direct from the business.
