CHC Tree Care

About CHC Tree Care

CHC Tree Care is a tree surgery business in Sheffield run by Chris Heald. The team carries out tree removal, crown reduction, crown thinning, crown lifting, pollarding and stump removal. Hedge work, tree planting and site maintenance are also offered. Jobs range from small tree pruning to woodland management and commercial site clearance.

The business covers Sheffield, the Peak District and North Nottinghamshire. All staff are fully qualified arborists and hold certification for arboricultural works. Tree removal is carried out by controlled methods including dismantling, rigging and felling. Crown reduction makes trees a suitable size for their surroundings or reduces mechanical stress. Crown thinning removes smaller branches to increase light and reduce wind resistance. Crown lifting removes the lowest branches to improve access or light. Pollarding is used on suitable species such as ash, lime, plane and willow. Stump removal prepares ground for future planting, turfing or construction. Hedge work covers annual maintenance, reductions and reshaping. Site maintenance contracts include hedgecutting, tree works and supply of woodchippings for weed suppression.

All work follows British Standard BS3998:2010. The business holds public liability insurance at £5 million and employers liability insurance at £10 million. Woodchippings and firewood from tree work are recycled. The team includes Geraint Radford and Pete Whittaker.
