Nunnery Wood is ancient woodland and it is inside the city, beside County Hall on the east side. One of the oaks in it is reckoned at about five hundred and fifty years old. It belonged to the nuns of White Ladies Aston long before the county council bought it in nineteen seventy nine, and the pond in it began as a medieval marl pit, dug for clay to spread on the fields.
