How much does lawn treatment cost?
£30 to £70 an application is the going rate across most of Britain, with London and the South East at £40 to £90. A full year of four or five visits totals £150 to £400, averaging about £275. Smaller lawns of 50 square metres can be treated for £15 to £18.

Published prices split badly, from £15 on a 50 square metre lawn up to £70 for one application, because some guides cost the product over a small area while others cost a visit with a minimum charge attached. What a cheap quote leaves out is the certificated operator, and unqualified spraying of professional product is an offence rather than a corner cut.
What moves the price
- Measured lawn area, priced at £0.12 to £0.30 a square metre once it gets large.
- Number of visits booked across the year, from two up to five.
- Whether selective herbicide is included, which needs a certificated operator and costs more than feed alone.
- Moss burden, since iron treatment and the raking that follows add £20 to £150.
- Region, with the South East and London roughly 30 per cent above national rates.

Why has the moss come back?
Because the conditions that grew it are still there. Iron sulphate kills what is present, not what causes it: shade, compaction, poor drainage or scalping. Pair treatment with autumn aeration or expect moss again inside a season.
How long until the lawn looks different?
Ten to fourteen days after a feed for colour, and about three weeks for weeds to collapse following a selective spray. Moss blackens within ten days and then has to be raked or scarified out. A thin, weedy lawn takes two full seasons of programme work to thicken up.
